Follow Steps #1 -3 Before Starting Design Choice

Gather Your Premixed Paint Colors Including Black, Plastic Pull Sheet, Balloon, Teardrop Sponge, Baggie, Rubber Band, Fine Line Paint Brush and Rod

Choose Portrait or Landscape Orientation for the Canvas Layout

Creating The Color Palette

Gather Choice of Paint Colors

  • Set aside the applicator bottle filled with the black paint for further instruction

  • Applying multiple colors will create a striking contrast when the black paint is pulled over them

  • Select the first color from the chosen colors for the background

  • Using random curvy lines, gently and slowly squeeze the applicator bottle and place the lines of paint directly onto the canvas

  • After applying all the background colors to the canvas, gather the applicator bottle filled with black paint

  • Apply a 2 inch strip of black paint across the top and entire length of the canvas

Pulling The Paint

Gather The Plastic Sheet

  • Carefully align the upper section of the plastic sheet with the width of the black paint strip, while holding the remaining part of the plastic sheet in your hands above the canvas as you pull the paint.

  • Gently and slowly pull the black strip of paint with the plastic sheet over the curvy lines of colors

  • Continue pulling all the way to the bottom of the canvas, pulling the plastic sheet up and off of the canvas edge

  • Wipe the plastic sheet off and reposition it on the black line where it is still needing pulled, repeat the process until the entire black line of paint is pulled over all the colors

  • Wash off plastic sheet with warm soapy water and dry

Flower

Gather The Teardrop Sponge, Baggie & Rubber Band

  • Prepare the teardrop sponge by positioning the pointed tip of the teardrop sponge in the corner of a baggie, twist the baggie on one of the flat sides of the sponge until the baggie is tight, and then secure it with a rubber band

  • For better handling of the sponge, cut off excess plastic about 2-inches beyond the rubber band

  • Hold in hand the rubber banded side of the teardrop sponge

First Petal

  • Still holding the rubber banded side, gently and slowly place the other flat side of the teardrop sponge onto the canvas to create the first petal

  • All in one motion, press first onto the canvas the rounded part of the sponge that is intended to be the top of the petal. Ending with the tip of the sponge towards what will be the center of the flower

  • Pull the sponge up and off the canvas leaving an impression of the first petal

  • If you do not like the way the first pull looks always do it over on top of the same petal impression, place the sponge back onto the canvas and redo,

  • Sometimes it takes a second pull to get the desired design

Second Petal

  • Wipe off sponge before pulling next petal

  • Repeat the same process by pressing the teardrop sponge onto the canvas next to the first petal created

  • Keep in mind you are forming a circle as you go

  • Press the sponge onto the canvas next to the first petal impression created, pull the sponge up and off the canvas leaving an impression of the second petal

Third Petal

  • Wipe off sponge before pulling next petal

  • Repeat the same process by pressing the teardrop sponge onto the canvas next to the second petal created

  • Keep forming a circle pattern and press the sponge onto the canvas next to your second petal impression and pull the teardrop sponge up and off the canvas leaving an impression of the third petal

Fourth, Fifth or 6th Petal

  • Wipe off sponge before pulling next petal

  • Repeat the same process by pressing the teardrop sponge onto the canvas next to the last petal created

  • Keep forming a circle pattern and press the sponge onto the canvas next to your last petal impression and pull the teardrop sponge up and off the canvas leaving the last of the impressions to complete the flower

Stem

Gather The Rod or Fine Tip Paint Brush

  • Using the rod place the smallest tip of the rod onto the canvas and pull the rod like a paintbrush to create a stem for each flower created

  • Or using the fine line paintbrush, apply a light stroke to pull the paint and create a stem for each flower created

Border

Gather Balloon

  • Inflate a balloon quarter of the way, 2-3 inches in diameter

(about the size of a lemon), and secure it with a knot

  • You can add a little water in the balloon to add weight for better control

  • Note: To pull the paint with the balloon, hold it by positioning the tied-off end between your index and middle fingers; this will enhance your grip and provide better control over the balloon

  • Using the small balloon , lightly press the bottom of the balloon down into the center of each flower to pull the paint and create a beautiful finish

  • Using the small balloon, lightly press the bottom of the balloon down onto the edges of the canvas

  • Lightly press and pull the balloon up and off the canvas edge to create an impression of a flower-like design creating a beautiful border

  • If you don't like the first balloon pull, wipe off the balloon and redo the same pull sometimes it takes a second pull to achieve the desired design

  • Don't over pull the paint it will start to get muddy
