Chain Butterfly
Follow Steps #1 -4 Before Starting Design Choice
Gather Your Choice Of Premixed Paint Color(s), Seven 24-inch Chains, Seven 12 Inch Chains, Pointed Fine Line Paint Brush, Metal Shovel Blotter
Create 4 Blocks To Use As A Guideline
Place two 24-inch chains on the prepared canvas background
Placing one horizontal and one vertical, creating 4 blocks to use as a guideline for each of the butterfly wings
Both chains will be removed after you create the outline of a butterfly wing in each block
Paint Wing Outlines
Choose the paint color for the outline of the butterfly wings
Gently and slowly squeeze the applicator bottle using the applicator tip for direct placement of the paint to create an outline of a wing in each block
Paint Lines and Drops
Choose multiple paint colors for contrast and to create a beautiful pattern for each wing
Gently and slowly squeeze the applicator bottle using the applicator tip to place the paint lines and drops
Place the paint lines and drops on the inside of the outline of each wing, it will give a beautiful pattern and result
Repeat the step for each color of lines and drops
Complete the paint lines and drops in each block to finish the outline of all 4 butterfly wings
Remove 24 inch Chains
Gently and slowly and one at a time REMOVE THE TWO GUIDELINE CHAINS FROM THE CANVAS
BE CAREFUL NOT TO DISTURB THE OUTLINE OF THE WINGS
Place the chains into the bucket of water until ready for a cleanup
Choose Chain Size
Depending on the size of the wing created, use the 12 or 24-inch chains to pull the first wing
The chains should be able to outline the outside of each wing created
Keep ahold of one end of the chain at all times
Place the opposite end down onto the canvas aligning the chain on the outside of the first wing outline
Pulling Paint
Keeping a hold, use the end that is still in your hand and start pulling the chain along the canvas surface
Pull the paint with the chain to the center of the butterfly
As the chain nears the end lift the chain up and off the canvas
Place the chain into the bucket of water until ready for cleanup
Using Shovel Blotter
Use the metal shovel blotter to dab off and remove the excess paint pulled to the center of the butterfly
Dab the center and wipe on a paper napkin as needed
Use the metal shovel blotter only for the center of the butterfly as you pull each wing
Repeating Process of Pulling Paint Drops
Repeat the process until all 4 wings are pulled in each block
Turn canvas as needed
Complete the top 2 wings and then turn the canvas for the bottom 2 wings
Use the metal shovel blotter as needed for excess paint in center of butterfly after every pulled wing, wipe off as needed
Place the metal shovel blotter into the bucket of water until ready for cleanup
Create The Body And Head
After all 4 wings are completed, continue to create the body and head of the butterfly
Gently and slowly squeeze the applicator bottle using the applicator tip to direct the placement of your choice of 5 paint color(s) drops or a small line of paint color in the center of the butterfly
The initial drop of paint of the 5 paint color drops will serve as the head and will be the largest. The next 4 drops will form the body, with each drop being slightly smaller than the previous one
Create The Antenna
Use the pointed fine line paint brush or palette knife to create the butterfly antenna
Using the very tip of either the fine line paint brush or palette knife gently and slowly pull a sliver of paint from each side of the head, making slightly curved lines to form the two antenna
Choose a color for the tip of the antenna
Gently and slowly squeeze the applicator bottle using the applicator tip to place one small drop of paint onto the tip of each antenna to complete the butterfly
Place the paint brush or palette knife into the bucket of water until ready for cleanup
