String Feather
Follow Steps #1 -4 Before Starting Design Choice
Gather Your Choice Of Premixed Paint Color(s), Scissors, String,
One 12-Inch Chain And Plastic Liner
The 11x14 prepared canvas can accommodate 1 to 2 feathers
You will need 2 strings for each feather
Cut 4 pieces of string 12 inches in length
Use the 12-inch chain provided in the kit as a guide for measuring and cutting the string
Lay out plastic liner beside the prepared canvas
Place the cut strings flat, straight, and next to each other on the plastic liner
Apply Your Choice Of Paint Color(s)
Gently and slowly squeeze the applicator bottle using the applicator tip to place paint directly onto the strings
Leave a 1-inch unpainted section at the top of the strings, providing a place to hold onto for when you are ready to pull the paint
Ensure the remainder of the string is fully saturated and entirely covered with the paint color(s)
Alternate the colors to create a pattern and beautiful contrast
Placing and Pulling The Strings
To position one feather, place the string close to the center of the canvas
To accommodate two feathers, position the first string further to the left on the canvas. This way, once the first feather is complete, there will be space on the right side of the canvas for the second feather
Gently and slowly lift the first paint-covered string by the unpainted end off the plastic liner
Keeping ahold of the unpainted end gently and slowly lay the paint-covered string onto the prepared canvas, positioning it slightly curved to form the feather's spine
While still holding the unpainted end, wait a few seconds to allow the string to set in the background paint
Gently and slowly pull the string dragging the string along the canvas surface to create the first side of the feather
When the string approaches the end, raise it up and remove it up and off the canvas
Place the string into the bucket of water until ready for cleanup
The Opposite Side Of The Feather
Gently and slowly lift the second paint-covered string by the unpainted end off the plastic liner
Keeping ahold of the unpainted end gently and slowly place the paint-coated string onto the prepared canvas, aligning it directly with the spine of the feather to form the opposite side
Continue holding the unpainted end and wait a few seconds to allow the string to set. Then, gently and slowly pull the string across the canvas surface in the opposite direction to form the other side of the feather
As the string approaches the end, lift it up and off the canvas
Hold onto the string for the next step
Using the same string, place about 3 inches of the string and position it
onto the previously shaped curved spine of the feather. Then, pull the string gently and slowly through the center of the feather to create a more pronounced marking on the feather's spine
As the string nears the end of the feather pull until the desired stem of the feather is created then lift up and off the canvas
Place the string into the bucket of water until ready for a cleanup
Create a second feather
Repeat and follow the instructions above
